Summer Solstice Stone, Cape Clear, County Cork
The stone carved in the Boyne Valley style that was found on Cape Clear comes from a Passage Cairn that adorns the summit of the hill at the centre of the island. It is a unique stone, the only one of this type to be found in the whole region. The Cairn has an unusual alignment towards the Hill of the Sun, Carrigagrennane, on the Summer Solstice Sun-Rise.
