An endearing account, not just of life but of living
Carrowreagh Childhood is the story of a boy growing up in the rural west of Ireland in the 1960s and 1970s. It's about his native townland of Carrowreagh, the surrounding area and the nearby village of Riverstown I south east county Sligo. From his time in Secondary School in Boyle to a job with the Roscommon Herald newspaper, this is a personal and intimate record of a time, place and people.
It's also a universal story, with a captivating power to evoke heartfelt memories of childhood, youth, family and community as it magically transports us back to our roots.
What's more, it's both timely... and timeless
A tribute to those who helped make us who we are
