Three was always the sacred number and the triskel is the most scared of symbols. It was the central sacred image throughout the pre-christain era being found in the form of the Triple Spiral in the Neolithic and in the later Celtic period this same symbol becomes the Triskel. It has many meanings such as representing the three elements, fire, water, air or sun, moon, stars.
