The Twists and Turns of Time novella tells the story of Sammuelle, a rich, young, posh Parisian who is troubled by out of body experiences that she endures nightly. Her grandmother begs her to find the origin of their troubled minds –the grandmother also has hallucinations. Sammi leaves France to come to Ireland (one of her ancestors was called ‘Iwerzhoney’ – Irishman in Breton,) to work as a ‘woofer’ with Caitlyn O’Rourke. Sammi thinks she has nothing in common with the silly, Celtic Tiger, single mother. Looking haughtily at Ireland through her sophisticated eyes, she sees Rory, who appeared in one of her nightmares. Working as a team they unravel the mystery of the bloody war scenes and misery that unfolds before her eyes when she sleeps. Together they discover that horrific scenes she witnesses is the ancestral memory of a war fought by both their forefathers in 1798. The past is within the present. Ballinamore in Co. Leitrim, where Sammi is staying, is still impregnated by the ideas of the French Revolution.
